3:15Fiesta featured Reader, PANELIST & organizer: Writer, teacher, and host of Spoken Word Salon in Ventura,California, gwendolyn alleypublished three dozen pages of poetry and artwork in ARTLIFE Limited Editionsfrom 1996-2004, including several from her 3:15s 2001-2005. A VW vanadventurer, she works on her manuscript Love& Terror at 3:15am at herhome near the ocean which she shares with her husband, her son, and her cat,Marcel Duchamp.

 

Born and raised in formerYugoslavia, jelena andjelkovic escaped its civil war and settled in Los Angeleswhere she began writing in English instead of her native Serbo-Croatian.  She joined a performance/slam poetrycircle, and became part of the original LitRave crew. Now in Sitka, Alaska, sheoccasionally performs at the Monthly Grind. She participated in the experimentin 2002, 2003 and 2005.

 

laynie browne is theauthor of five full-length collections of poetry, most recently MermaidÕs Purse (Spuyten Duyvil 2005) and Drawing of A Swan Before Memorywhich won the Contemporary Poetry Series from University of Georgia Press in2005. Forthcoming are two collections, OriginalPresence from Shivistan Books and DailySonnets from Counterpath. She joined the 3:15 experiment in1997 and 1998.

 

lee ann brown's booksof poetry include Polyverse (Sun& Moon) and The Sleep That ChangedEverything (Wesleyan University Press) as well as a recent collaborationwith Laynie Browne, Nascent Toolbox.  She began the poetry press, TenderButtons with the publication of Bernadette Mayer's Sonnets in 1989. She now teaches poetry at St. John's University and lives in New YorkCity and North Carolina with her husband and daughter.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader & PANELIST: antoinettenora claypoole is editor of a renegade literary press, wild embers.Currently she is writing/editing the ÒWatersong ProjectÓ based on newly foundÒlost worksÓ of Louise BryantÑand composing an epic poem honoring the ancientcult of Vesta in Tivoli, Italia. antoinette has been with the 3:15 experimentsince 2003.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader & PANELIST:liz collins heard about the 3:15 experiment on a July 31, 2003 SantaBarbara radio interview with Gwendolyn Alley, so she decided to try it out. InSeptember 2003, Gwendolyn overheard Liz talking about the experiment at a partyin Los Angeles and they met. Liz does massage, and practices yoga in Big Surwhere she lives with her daughter Heron.

 

During the dog days of July 2005, lindalee crosfield heard about the 3:15experiment. Always looking for new ways to combat insomnia, she dove right in.She lives in Ootischenia, BC, which means ÒValley of ConsolationÓ in Russian.That may explain everything.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader, Workshop leader, organizer & PANELIST:danika dinsmore was co-conspirator withpoets Bernadette Mayer, Lee Ann Brown, and Jen Hofer in the original 3:15experiment in 1993.  Little did she know sheÕd still be facilitating theexperiment 12 years later.  danika is a writer, film-maker, and educatorliving in Vancouver, BC with her husband and their two cats.  She hosts a virtual writing workshop onher website at www.danikadinsmore.com.

 

Coloradan by birth and New Englander by choice, amber fearn has been writing poetry off and on for manyyears.  Currently a professionalGirl Scout, she enjoys outdoor and indoor activities with abandon. She joinedthe 3:15 experiment in 2003 after hearing about it from a friend.

 

Trilingual, award winning, multidimensional artist and poet, e.fix is currently performing her lines forthe Little Red Studio (since 2003) where she is cast as, Òthe woman in shadowÓopening April 2006, at Hugo House, Seattle. Her book Felt came out in 2005 with Hengst Studio.  She has been with the 3:15 experimentsince 2003.

 

Born in Canada, erica gehrke has lived in Europe and Israel, journeyed over land and sea exploringthe cultural milieu of places, faces, and lifestyles which serve as theinspiration of her writing. Erica is a Vancouver-based writer. 2005 was erica'sfirst year with the experiment.

 

3:15Fiesta featured ReadeR: jen hofer has been writing at 3:15 a.m.every August since 1993. Her poems and translations can be found in Sin puertas visibles: An Anthology ofContemporary Poetry by Mexican Women (University of Pittsburgh Press) and slide rule(subpress), and in books forthcoming from Atelos and Kenning Editions.Jen lives in L.A. and is a founding member of the City of Angels LadiesÕBicycling Association, also known as the Whirly Girls.

 

christopher j. jarmickis the President of the Washington Chapter of PEN and the Vice President of theWashington Poets Association.  Heis the co-writer of the suspense thriller novel The Glass Cocoon.He first officially participated in the 3:15 experiment in 2005.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader, workshop leader & PANELIST: amalio madue–o, teacher and namesake ofMexican BobÕs Poetry Camp at Taos Poetry Circus from 1994-2001, performs hiswork throughout the west and internationally. His publication credits includeARTLIFE Limited Editions and two anthologies Venusin the Badlands (Desert Shovel 2006) and  La Puerta (WildEmbers Press 2006). He joinedthe 3:15 experiment in 2005.

 

bernadette mayer isthe author of numerous books of poetry and prose, including Scarlet Tanager (2005), Proper Name and Other Stories(1996) and The Bernadette MayerReader (1992). She has taught writing workshops at The Poetry Projectat St. MarkÕs Church in New York City for many years and she served as thePoetry ProjectÕs director during the 1980s.  She was the inspiration behind the 3:15 experiment and hasparticipated on and off since 1993.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader & PANELIST: tod mccoy is a screenwriter, playwright, and thepublisher of en theos press who recently relocated to Vancouver fromSeattle to break into the movies. During the day he busies himself buildingwebsites. He will soon be marketing his first novel, Rashor: The End Of Days. Hejoined the 3:15 experiment in 2000 and serves as its webmaster.

 

denise calvetti michaelswrites poetry and memoir, teaches psychology and human relations at CascadiaCommunity College in Washington State, and is grandmother to Holden, Calder,and Maizie. Her first year participating in the 3:15 experiment was 2005.

 

Performance poet kevin mooneyham lives southwest of Eugene, Oregon with his wife and four dogs.Co-founder of the Eugene Poetry Slam, he performed at the 2002 Seattle PoetryFestival, and the 2001 and 2002 Inside/Out multi-art festivals in Eugene. He3:15Õd in 2005, using the time and space to work on a novel.

 

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader & PANEL Facilitator: Broadcaster, teacher, and poet paul nelson founded Global Voices Radio. PaulÕs epic poem A Time Before Slaughterre-enacts his hometownÕs history. He maintains a mental list of every cafe inthe Puget Sound region that sells green tea chai, writes an American Sentenceevery day, and has participated in the 3:15 experiment since 1998.

 

andrew noble grew upin Scotland, studied Psychology and English in Glasgow and moved to Vienna in1997 where he is an English teacher for social workers at the University ofApplied Sciences, St Poelten, Austria. He has been participating annually inthe 3:15 experiment since 2002.

 

3:15Fiesta featured Reader & PANELIST: dawn-marie oliver is a poem-writing, motorcycle-riding, tarot-readingescapee from Minnesota. Known as the Purple Poetry Goddess, in certain circlesher work is deemed worthy of Parental Advisory for Use of UncomfortableLanguage. In these circles, she is known as the Purple Goddess of OversexedPoetry.  She jumped aboard the 3:15 experiment in 1997 and hasparticipated every year since then.

 

lincoln simoni worksin a chemical lab in the Midwest. Married with three children, he has yet tocomplete his formal education. 2005 was his first year to participate in the3:15 experiment.

 

tina schumannÕs workhas appeared in various publications including Pontoon # 4,Cranky: A Literary Journal and Enopoetica:A Collection of Poetry Inspired by Wine. A past vice-president ofthe board of directors for the Seattle Poetry Festival, she is a degreecandidate in the MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University. Tina participatedin the 3:15 experiment from 1999-2001.

 

marie warsh is alandscpape historian who lives in Brooklyn. She is currently working on herspring journalÑanother Bernadette Mayer-inspired writing experiment. She hopesto someday organize a 3:15 summer camp. Marie participated in the 2003experiment.
