Jon Mack
Head Coach
Third Year at Ventura College
College attended: Cal State Northridge
Coach Jon Mack will be entering his third year as a head coach of the Pirates. Coach Mack is a graduate of Notre Dame High School where he also taught for eight years. He also taught and coached at Alemany High School prior to arriving at St. Bonaventure High School. At St. Bonaventure, Coach Mack led his team to eleven league titles and 7 CIF Championships. His winning percentage is second to none and holds the Ventura County record for most wins. He was recently inducted into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame.
Coach Mack is a graduate of California State University Northridge, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Coach earned his Masters degree at Azusa Pacific University in 2005. His presence has already made a positive influence here at Ventura College. Through the hard work of Coach Mack and his outstanding staff the future of Ventura College Football rests in very capable hands. Coach Mack is quick to point out how supportive his family has always been. His wife Kathy, daughters Jenny and Kristin, along with his son Justin, his mother Jonell, sister-in-law Laurie, and mother-in-law Rosie have always been coach's most loyal fans. |

Gary Anglin
Deffensive Coordinator/Linebackers

One of the most respected coaches in community college athletics is Coach Gary Anglin. Coach Anglin will be entering his 33rd year with the Pirates. He has coached both football and baseball for many years here at Ventura College. He was inducted into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Coach Anglin holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from UCLA and received a Masters degree from the University of Wyoming. Gary and his wife Lisa, reside in Ventura, with their two children, Brooke and Casey. |

Tim Gutierrez
Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks

Coach Gutierrez begins his seventh season on the Pirate football staff. Coach Gutierrez is a devoted disciple of the "No Huddle Offense" with its emphasis on a third down approach to all downs and putting constant pressure on the defense.
Coach Gutierrez came to Ventura College from St. Bonaventure High School, where he was hired as the offensive coordinator in 1995.
After graduating from high school, Coach Gutierrez went on to play quarterback at San Diego State and garnered All WAC honors in 1993. Coach Gutierrez also serves as head coach of the Ventura College Track and Field program. He is single and resides in the City of Oxnard. |

Ted Lawrence
Defensive Line/Recruiting Coordinator

College attended: UC Santa Barbara
Coach Ted Lawrence enters his 12th year at Ventura College and his 9th as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. He joined the Pirate Football staff in the spring of 1998 and served as the offensive line coach for two years prior to assuming his duties on the defensive side of the football. Coach Ted Lawrence has sixteen years of coaching experience.
Coach Ted Lawrence earned his Bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara in 1994. He went on to earn his M.Ed. in 1998 and M.A. in 2002 from Azusa Pacific University. He resides in Camarillo with his wife Rosario and his stepson Luca, and 10 month old daughter Paloma. |

Tom Lawrence
Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs

College attended: CS Northridge
Coach Tom Lawrence attended Ventura College and Cal State Northridge where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. After spending nine years coaching high school, Coach Lawrence was hired as the Special Teams Coordinator at Ventura College in 1999. Along with coordinating the Pirate Special Teams, he is in charge of coaching the Defensive Backs. He has also served as an offensive assistant coaching receivers and running backs. |

Ian Eaton
Assistant Head Coach
In his 14th season with the Pirates, Ian is now serving his 7th year on the football staff. Previously he assisted in Basketball and Baseball. Ian participates in the Ventura County Special Olympics and has earned many gold medals. His latest gold medal was earned in golf at the summer games. If Coach Mack is unable to fulfill his duties Coach Ian will assume the coaching duties.

Dan Lyon
Offensive Line
Third Year at Ventura College
Coach Lyon is entering his third year of coaching at Ventura College as the offensive line coach. He has twenty years of high school coaching experience, most recently as an assistant at St. Bonaventure High School. As a player, Dan was first Team All Western State Conference at Moorpark College and an Academic All American at New Mexico Highlands University. Dan resides in Ventura with his wife, Luz, and their two sons, Austin and Nate. |

Jason Bendinelli
Wide Recievers/Tight Ends/Long Snappers
Third Year at Ventura College
College attended: UCLA
Coach Bendinelli is in his third year of coaching at Ventura College. He has over five years coaching experience at different levels with tight end and offensive coordinator duties. After attending Ventura Colelge where he played Tight End and Long Snapper. He attended Ventura College where he played Tight End and Long Snapper. After one season at VC, Jason earned a football scholarship to UCLA, where he graduated with honors and played in the Jeep/Eagle Aloha Bowl. Jason lives in Ventura and is married to his wife, Varita, and have a son Collin. |

Coach Leckie enters his second year at VC coaching running backs. He has over nine years of coaching experience at both the high school and youth levels. He has earned 5 National Karate Championships. He resides in Ojai with his wife Tami and their 3 children. |

Assistant Offensive Line Coach
Second year at Ventura College
Coach Ford begins his second year moving over to help coach the O-Line from the defensive backs. He played for St. Ambrose University in Davenport Iowa where he earned 1st team All-Conference each year. He then transferred to and graduated from CSUN. |

Felipe Macias
Kicking Coach
First Year at Ventura College
Coach Macias enters his first year at VC working with the kickers. He graduated from Channel Islands High in 2005 where he was all CIF 1st Team. In 2004 he had the longest field goal in the state of California with a 56 yarder. Before graduating from Eastern Washington University with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies he attended Moorpark College and was WSC 1st team in 2007. |

Andrew Patterson
Linebackers Coach

Coach Drew graduated from Hanford West High School in 2004. He went on to play football for Antelope Valley College where he graduated in 2008. He is currently attending Kaplan University majoring in Health & Wellness. |

Merrick D. Carter
Character Develepment Coach
First year at Ventura College
Coach Carter begins his first year at VC where he will demonstrate and educate players the characteristic values of respect, responsibility, and integrity. This enhances sportsmanship and servant leadership both on and off the field. He is employed by the Port Hueneme Police Department as the Chaplain. He graduated from Golden Grain Bibile College & Seminary where he received his B.A. & Masters of Theology as well as a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology. He and his lovely wife Arline have 3 beautiful daughters. |
