Ventura College feels a special responsibility for out-of-area student-athletes. The first year at any junior college is especially tough, and unfortunately, because of California laws, COA regulations, and time constraints on an already over-worked staff, we are not able to offer you much assistance. However, we will do all we can, legally, in helping you with living arrangements and guiding you to employment opportunities. The Educational Opportunity Program, Financial Aid, and Administration offices are very supportive and helpful.

You can be successful at Ventura College if you have the desire and work ethic, but it takes a lot of planning and organization. It’s also imperative that you get help from home and have the full financial aid package. When all is said and done, the responsibility is yours.

Choosing to attend Ventura College can be an excellent decision as you pursue your dream of attaining a football scholarship. Many out-of-the-area athletes in the past few years, who were on their own, graduated from Ventura College and their goals have been fulfilled. These athletes are mentioned by name in the “Previous Athletes” page.
