Coach Winslow begins his ninth season as the captain of the Pirate ship. Last year, the Pirates finished 27-7, winning their sixth straight WSC Championship and making their seventh straight “Sweet Sixteen”. The Pirates have played in the state regional finals or higher for seven straight seasons, including their farthest run last year all the way to the Final 4. Ventura College has been rebuilt under Coach Winslow and continues to be one of the top programs in the country.

Greg has been a successful coach for ten years. He spent two seasons rebuilding San Bernardino Valley College (44-22) before coming home to Ventura College. His overall record in eight seasons at VC is a remarkable 195-60. Coach Winslow achieved the 200 win career milestone (San Bernardino Valley and Ventura combined) in just over eight seasons.

Coach Winslow was born and raised in Ventura. He graduated from Buena High in 1982, married his lovely wife Janene in 1984 and both attended Fresno State University. He graduated from Fresno State with a B.A. in History before completing his M.A. in physical education from California State University Bakersfield in 1992.

Greg and Janene reside in Ventura and have four children, Tatum (18), Rex (16), Tori (15) and Kellen (13).

Alan Dikes
Men's Basketball Assistant Coach

Coach Dikes begins his second year as an assistant coach at Ventura College. He is back to help the Pirates try and reach the elusive “State Championship”, which in his first year they made it to the Final 4.

Dikes is a 1970 graduate of Ventura High. He is a retired long time business owner in Ventura and is finishing culinary school and enjoying coaching in his new found free time.

Coach Dikes resides in Ventura and is married to Elli (VC Dance Instructor) and they have two daughters Kristin (26) and Kelly (24).
