Welcome to Dance Appreciation. Ventura College Dance Department has been providing dance to the community for over 50 years. We hope that you will have an appreciation of dance as an art form at the end of this course. The following will help you see how the class works, if you still have questions please feel free to contact me via e-mail.

PLEASE LOG INTO YOUR COURSE BY LOGGING IN TO WEBSTAR. There is a link that says “WebCT Vista/Blackboard.” Click this link, and when the new screen opens, click the orange “Launch WebCT Vista” button.

To get started it is very important that you read the syllabus for text books, course requirements and grading criteria. There are six projects to complete and one performance observation. Within each project you will find your assignments, you must meet the due dates that are included however you may complete your assignments as early as you like.

The calendar is set up to help you stay on course and to meet due dates. I will also include performances you might want to see which will meet the requirement of seeing a live performance (you will need to click on the date to view information). If you know of any live dance performances that I did not list please let me know and I will include in the calendar.

At first glance it looks as if you have a lot of video viewing to accomplish, keep in mind that most of these clips are two to three minutes in length. As the semester progresses you will probably locate dance links - please share with the class.

The course content meets the objectives of this subject and we have worked towards solving all technical aspects. I welcome any concerns so that they may be resolved.
