GEOGRAPHIC
INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS)
- Fundamentals of Mapping and GIS (GEOG/GIS
22) (3 units, 13 weeks)
- Introduction to GIS Software (GEOG/GIS
26) (2 units, 8-weeks)
(Note: While GEOG/GIS 22 is meant to precede GEOG/GIS 26, if
you have some basic knowledge of maps and computer use, you can take GEOG/GIS
26 first.)
- GIS Applications: Project Development (GEOG/GIS
28) (1.5
units, 8 weeks, starts mid-semester)
Prerequisite: GEOG/GIS 22 and/or GEOG/GIS 26 (If you
haven't had GEOG/GIS 26, you should be familiar with ArcGIS/ArcView).
Introduction to GPS (GEOG/GIS 24) (.5
units, Friday evening/two Saturdays, mid-semester) A weekend course on the
basic
use of handheld Global Positioning System receivers for navigation, work, and
research.
