8:30 - 9:00  Welcome (SCI 222)

9:00 - 12:15 Breakout Sessions: GIS Application Examples (SCI 116 and SCI 222)

Presentations by GIS users from around the Tri-County area.
 
12:15 - 1:15 Lunch(Science building loading dock, around the corner from SCI 116)
Free for pre-registrants. Some food may be available for purchase.
 
1:15 - 2:00 Poster Session(Breezeway between SCI 119 and Loading Dock.) Judging at 1:45
Poster presentations with maps that show how GIS is used to manage parks, map oil pipelines, do city planning, and the like. (Posters will be up all day until 3:30)
 
12:30 - 3:30 Vendor Displays(SCI 113 and SCI 119)
GIS companies displaying their wares and GIS applications (and GPS - Global Positioning Systems).

3:30 - 3:45 Afternoon Welcome for Teachers, Students, and others (SCI 222)
 
3:45 - 4:15 Public Safety GIS (Helicopter will land around 4:00 - Staging in SCI 222)
A public safety GIS demonstration including a visit from the County Fire Department helicopter will take place. The helicopter is equipped with an on-board mapping system that we will be able to view interactively from the ground through a down-link as it flies in and lands on campus. We will then have an opportunity to look at the helicopter and the mapping system up close.
 
4:15 - 5:00 Hands-on Lab Activity
GIS for Schools in SCI 113 (GIS computer Lab)
 
This will be a hands-on computer-based activity for teachers and students on the use of GIS. We will explore data about the world, California, and Ventura County.
