Staging in SCI 222)
We may repeat this activity from last year (perhaps actually having
the helicopter land). A public safety GIS demonstration including
a visit from the County Fire Department helicopter will take place. The
helicopter is equipped with an on-board mapping system that we will be
able to view interactively from the ground through a down-link as it flies
in and lands on campus. We will then have an opportunity to look at the
helicopter and the mapping system up close.
4:15 - 5:15 Hands-on Lab Activity: GIS for Schools in SCI 113
(GIS computer Lab)
This will be a hands-on computer-based activity for teachers and students
on the use of GIS. We will explore data about the world, California, Ventura
County, and marine resources of the Channel Islands. The session
will be led by the education coordinators at the Channel Islands National
Marine Sanctuary.
