Directions: Once you get to campus see map above.

From Ventura or farther north: Hwy 101 South to Hwy 126 East. Go east on Hwy 126 until the Victoria Ave exit (first exit!).  Left over freeway on Victoria until major light at Telegraph Road.  Left on Telegraph.  Ventura College will be on your right side after the 3rd light.
From Oxnard or farther south: Hwy 101 North to the Victoria Ave exit (2nd exit after the Santa Clara River Bridge).  Right on Victoria continue for a few miles until major light at Telegraph Road.  Left on Telegraph.  Ventura College will be on your right side after the 3rd light.
 

GIS DAY SCHEDULE

Ventura College Sciences Building

8:30 - 8:45  Registration (Ventura College Science Building) (Registration will continue through the day).

8:45 - 9:30  Welcome (SCI 222)
    Featured Speaker: Bob Amos, City of Bakersfield GIS

9:30 - 12:30 Breakout Sessions: GIS Application Examples (SCI 116, SCI 222, SCI 221)
Presentations by GIS users from around the Tri-County area.

12:30 - 1:30 Lunch (Science building loading dock, around the corner from SCI 116)
Free for pre-registrants (see top of this page).

1:30 - 2:00 Poster Session (Breezeway between SCI 119 and Loading Dock.) Judging until 3:30, awards at 3:40.
Poster presentations with maps that show how GIS is used to manage parks, map oil pipelines, do city planning, and the like. (Posters will be up all day until 3:45)

12:30- 3:45 Vendor Session (All vendors should be available at this time.)
GIS companies displaying their wares and GIS applications (and GPS - Global Positioning Systems).
9:30 - 4:30 Vendor Exhibits (SCI 113 and SCI 119)
Vendors can begin to set up at 8am and must up by 12:30. GIS Day Participants are encouraged to visit exhibits all through the day.

3:40 - 3:45 Poster Session Awards (Breezeway)

3:45 - 4:30 GPS Geosearch (We'll use GPS units to find prizes hidden around the campus.  Bring your GPS unit or use one of ours.)

4:30 - 5:30 Hands-on Lab Activity: GIS for Schools in SCI 113 (GIS computer Lab)
This will be a hands-on computer-based activity for teachers, students, and anyone else who is interested in the use of GIS. We will explore data about the world, California, Ventura County, and marine resources of the Channel Islands.
